(Alyssa) I’m writing to you from a Starbucks not far from the place I currently call home. My daughters are here with me- two of them are doing homework, and my third is sitting cross-legged with her lips pursed in concentration as she completes a crossword puzzle. Forgive me if this post might be a bit jumbled… my second grader is barraging me with a constant stream of questions such as, “Does goat and coat rhyme?” and “Is no and know the same sound?”
High fives to all you working mamas out there! Whether our work is outside or inside our homes, all of us are typically multitasking and still doing our best to let our kids know that they aren’t just another task, they are a treasure. That’s a daily test, isn’t it?
As we wrap up our fall sales, and shipments continue to make their way to you, there is an ever-present gratefulness in all of us here at Hannah Kate. Every member of our team strives to give every season their all, and to bless each one of our customers. Thank you – thank you for the pleasure you have given us in living our passions.
As the leaves fall and the season changes, we are also experiencing change here at Hannah Kate. Sadly, we are having to say goodbye to three amazing women who make up our family at Hannah Kate. They are each moving on to exciting ventures and reaching new milestones in their lives, and we could not be happier for them. However, we are feeling a real loss because we have formed close bonds with each of these women as we have lived life together for many years.
I believe that Thanksgiving is more than just a season. It is a state of mind, that is quite necessary as we face the daily challenges of life. Gratefulness is a superhero. She rides in, or rather we invite her in, and she saves the day time and time again. We are so grateful for a beautiful and successful fall season. You all are certainty to praise for that, but I (Alyssa) and Andrea would like to add a few more names to our Thanksgiving list who have given in so many ways through their talents and service.
(Andrea) I’d like to first say a special thank you to Sharon from all of us at Hannah Kate. Sharon and I have a long history together and have been close family friends since our children were born. She has been an integral part of the design team; working with Sara and me to come up with the samples you saw each season in our catalogs and at our Trunk Shows. She went on several trips to fabric shows and never shied away from hard work. Sharon was also our Fabric Manager and worked consistently with our many vendors to ensure that all of our suppliers had everything they needed each season. Her friendship and FABULOUS style will be missed and forever appreciated. We wish her all the best as she takes her amazing handbag line, Old Clutch, to new levels. We love you Sharon!
Secondly, we want to give a big group hug (and maybe a hand on the tummy to feel that sweet baby kick!) to our Emma. The phrase “small but mighty” comes to mind when we think of Emma! I (Andrea) believe that Emily, Emma, and I have always had a close bond. She may be Emily’s niece, but Emma has never asked for special treatment. I know I can count on her for anything. Emma is such a hard worker and takes a lot of pride in completing a task with excellence and attention to detail. Emma has worn a lot of hats at Hannah Kate over the years- from running our Facebook sales, to writing the catalog copy, to checking in all of the clothes that come in from our manufacturers… she has done it all! Her little one is coming in December, and we cannot wait to all be surrogate aunts to her precious baby. We love and appreciate you Emma! You will be missed more than you know.
Finally, I (Andrea) have to thank our sweet Sara. She has not only made an impact on Hannah Kate, she has also made a huge impact on my life personally. To say she will be missed is a huge understatement. Anyone who knows Sara will tell you that she asks more questions than anyone you’ve ever met. Honestly though, it is so refreshing to see someone so interested in learning every aspect of the job. Sara started as an intern at Hannah Kate because we really didn’t have a position for her. She quickly learned the ins and outs of all we do here. I can honestly say that I never imagined there would be someone as passionate or as knowledgeable about Hannah Kate as I am, but Sara has proved me wrong. Her roles have evolved and changed over the years from Customer Service, to designing our Hannah Kate Vintage line, to managing multiple inventories, to taking phone orders, to Social Media, and even hosting her own Trunk Show! Her latest role, and the most fun for me, was being on the Design team and designing the Trunk Show samples with Sharon and me. Sara has truly been my right arm. She traveled with me to Texas, (and gripped my arm for dear life on the plane!) stayed late many days packing up huge, heavy boxes to send off to photo shoots… and so much more! I am not going to lie; “losing” Sara has been very tough for me. She is no longer just and employee – she has become like a daughter and a very close friend. This loss has been big and hard, but I am also so very happy for her as she embarks on her new adventure – getting married! We send her off with the best wishes, love, and deep gratitude.
I also (Alyssa), with emotion, say farewell to Sara. My three daughters sitting with me now are as attached as I am to dear Sara. I have worked in very close (wink! She knows!) quarters with this girl through the last few seasonal shoots with her voice in my ear! I watched her love on all those sweet little models. I heard her say the most hilarious things ever that made me stop dead in my shooting so I could hold my side and keep myself from bursting into fits of laughter when I should be concentrating. She has ridden on my back, hugged my side, spat in my face, and even pulled my hair (in pure love!). We have literally stepped on each other’s toes and talked five-year-old boy- level bathroom humor to get smiles and laughs for the shots. My daughters are quite sure she should host her wedding at OUR house and adopt us all as her siblings. We know we aren’t the only ones who love and have been loved so well by this sweet girl. Sara, we made a team, a team that loved on little ones together. You always remind me to keep the fun in the serious work of it all. I love you for it!
Congratulations and many blessings from Hannah Kate to all three of you! Seasons may change, but when we work side by side to achieve a goal, our hearts mesh together in a way that is hard to put into words. We love you all.
We have also added some new names and beautiful faces to the Hannah Kate family. Welcome Julianne Sparkman as Inventory Manager and Assistant to the Designer, and Sarah Bradford as our new Social Media Manager!
Julianne comes to us from Orange County, California, where she worked as a Product Developer at PJ Salvage. She is amazing! She is very experienced in the world of design and is creative, highly organized, and a gifted writer. We met with Julianne three years ago, but the timing was not right then. We kept in touch over those three years and are now really excited about getting to work with Julianne and see her grow and her gifts flourish.
Sarah is married to my (Andrea) nephew and is an absolute doll! She has such a great sense of fashion and also has the most beautiful baby boy who you are sure to see modeling lots of Hannah Kate on Social Media from now on! She is highly creative and fun and will bring lots of great energy to Hannah Kate.
So, there you have it! A new season begins!
Before I (Alyssa) wrap up, I wanted to remind you that the holidays are right around the corner and that means so is our Facebook Sale and Sample Sale! Our Sample Sale will be December 5th, 6th, and 7thand our Facebook Sale will be December 12th. Make sure to mark those dates in your calendars and stay tuned to our social media for more updates!
